Birth, Explained
Childbirth Education, Reimagined
A small-group, body-aware childbirth class designed for real people, real questions, and real life.
This class is not a lecture or a checklist. It’s a thoughtful, responsive learning space where you can slow down, ask questions, and understand what’s happening in your body — and how to work with it.
How this class works
This class is intentionally held in very small groups — just 1–3 couples at a time.
Rather than following a rigid script, the class adapts to the people in the room. The pace is calm, unrushed, and responsive, with space for discussion, practice, and integration.
You’ll have time to:
Ask questions (and follow-up questions)
Practice movement, positioning, and comfort strategies
Understand how labor, birth, and recovery interact with real bodies and nervous systems
Explore options without pressure or a single “right” way
What we cover
Topics are shaped by the group, but commonly include:
How labor works — mechanically and neurologically
Movement, positioning, and comfort strategies during labor
Supporting pelvic floor function through birth and recovery
Partner support that is practical, grounded, and responsive
Understanding common interventions and choices
Preparing for postpartum recovery and early transitions
Education is evidence-based, but always connected back to lived experience.
Who leads the class
This class is led by a collaborative care team:
A Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of Oak Physical Therapy, with advanced training in pelvic floor physical therapy, pregnancy and postpartum care, infant development, and nervous-system–informed approaches.
A Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and New Hampshire Licensed Midwife (NHCM), bringing deep experience in physiological birth, labor support, and informed decision-making.
A Registered Nurse and Doula, offering both clinical perspective and hands-on labor and postpartum support experience.
Together, we bring multiple perspectives — physical therapy, midwifery, nursing, and doula care — into one cohesive, small-group class.
Rather than teaching from a script, we adapt the content to the questions, bodies, and needs of the people in the room.
Small group. Extended time. Individualized care.
The class runs for 3 hours, allowing time to move slowly, integrate information, and practice skills without rushing.
Cost: $350 per couple
This reflects:
The extended length of the class
The intentionally small group size
The level of individualized instruction and support provided
This class is designed to go deeper than standard large-group offerings.
